stirring

BJ & I just got back from camp with our teenagers. I feel like I could write a million different things of what God did and how we met with him while we were there. Yet one thing keeps stirring and going through my mind so I’m choosing to post this one for now. Our worship leader was Ronnie Freeman who has a great ability, along with the members of his band, to really usher you into God’s presence. He only did this song one time and yet I cannot get the lyrics out of my head! You might’ve heard his song, God Speaking, on the radio. Here’s the part I can’t shake:

Who knows how he’ll get ahold of us?

Get our attention to prove He is enough.

He’ll do and He’ll use WHATEVER He wants to.

To tell us “I love you.”

It sounds so simple. But if you haven’t heard the song, you really have to listen to it. Who are we to know how He’ll get a hold of a life? He is God. He can and will use whatever and whomever He wants to speak His love to us. I just had to stop typing and raise my hands in the air and sing along with the chorus.

Friends, we serve a God who loves us jealously, deeply and unconditionally. Stop and think about the course of your life–what has God done–what steps has He taken to beckon you to Him? Who has He used? What has He used? Oh Lord, I am so grateful for the course a life with you has taken me on. It’s been hard. It’s been stretching. It still is. But resounding in this heart and soul of mine is a confidence in Your love for me and desire to use my life, whatever that may be, for your glory.

And taking it a step further–how is God using us to change the course of another person’s life, to show them His love? Amy Carmichael prayed for a different color of eyes, I question how He’ll use us in Kansas, the loss of a child for my sister & brother-in-law. We question. And yet, God in His sovereignty is using everything to move a world to hunger after Him. God, help me to rest in all You are.

Listen and let it speak over you.

Have you ever heard a love song,
That set your spirit free?
Have you ever watched a sunrise,
And felt you could not breathe?
What if it’s Him? What if it’s God speaking?

Have you ever cried a tear that
You could not explain?
Have you ever met a stranger
Who already knew your name?
What if it’s Him? What if it’s God speaking?

Who knows how He’ll get ahold of us?
Get our attention to prove He is enough.
He’ll do, and He’ll use whatever He wants to.
To tell us, I Love You.

Have you ever lost a loved one
Who you thought should still be here?
Do you know what it feels like
to be tangled up in fear?
What if He’s somehow involved?
What if He’s speaking through it all?

Who knows how He’ll get ahold of us?
Get our attention to prove he is enough.
He’ll do and He’ll use whatever He wants to
To tell us, I love you.

His ways are higher yeah
His ways are better
And though sometimes strange
What could be stranger than God in a manger?
